Blue Matcha

I love it. What a fun tea!!

use it with lemon

it's so cool and fun to watch the color change to pinkish purple when you throw some lemon in the mix. I don't recommend drinking it like a matcha, but using it as a colorant or additive to regular teas. Green works nicely with it, with lemon, ginger and sweetener.

Tastes like blue

I like matcha. I even have a traditional matcha set so I can make it properly. This is blue. That's it. It's not matcha. It doesn't taste or smell like matcha. I have no idea why they call this stuff matcha. If we forget that this stuff is called matcha, it's kind of fun. The color is very vivid. You can add it to things that actually have flavor and make them blue. Kind of like...food dye. So, think of it as natural food dye. It adds about as much flavor as food dye. In other words, it tastes like nothing. It does say you can add it to stuff to color it, and you certainly can do that. Drinking as matcha doesn't really work though.

Bright Blue Color

This Butterfly Pea Flower tea comes in powder form. You get (10) .05 ounce tubes. The tubes tear open, but use caution, as the bright blue powder puffs out if you open the tube too quickly, and it will get all over everything. When added to something like steamed milk, the powder is a pretty baby blue. When added to a mild acid, like tea, it produces a blue-green color. If you add a strong acid, like lemon, it turns purple. This property makes it lots of fun to use in cocktails and hot beverages. It has a very mild pea flavor, but it mostly just takes on the flavor of whatever you add it to. I tried it in a tea latte, but I think it would also be cool to use dry with a stencil on top of a cake, since it is a very bright, pretty blue color right out of the packet. I like that it contains lots of antioxidants, and I like the fun color-changing property it has. It is a little pricey, but it might be worth it for the convenience of having it in individual servings in powder form.

Nice looking drinks

The natural butterfly pea flowers don't have much of taste and fragrance but they do have beautiful pigment for coloring and great health benefits. Therefore I was not surprised that this tea powder has no taste or fragrance either. But it's great to make nice looking beverages and Halloween pastries. Do like individual packets that is convenient to use and for storage. The price is expensive though comparing to many other butterfly pea powder or tea in the market.
